Conservation of the Monuments
We have embarked upon a major conservation exercise to preserve the outstanding Rodney Family memorials and monuments, including the listed chest tomb and the much older grave slab in the churchyard. This page will be updated with our plans and progress. Please come back regularly to keep up to date with our progress.
After lengthy preparations and the making of a formal application and justificationto the Chancellor of the Diocese of Bath and Wells, we have at long last been granted Faculty to go ahead with this project. We have raised a total of about £43000 (that's roughly €51500 or $56000 US) to protect and save these historically important monuments for future generations. (For those of you who are not familiar with Churchspeak, "Faculty" simply means "planning consent")
Our fundraising was greatly helped by substantial offers of financial support from the Church of England's Church Buildings Council, the Leche Trust, and the Francis Coales Charitable Foundation, as well as the Heritage Lottery Fund.
If you would like to help us to raise the funds for other church conservation projects by making a donation, you can do so by clicking on the link below. If you are a United Kingdom taxpayer, we will be able to reclaim the tax you have paid on your donation through the Government's Gift Aid scheme. Thank you for your support.
